How to Read This Forecast

The Kp index measures geomagnetic activity on a scale from 0 to 9. Higher values mean the auroral oval expands toward the equator, so the aurora becomes visible from lower latitudes. A Kp of 5 or above is classified as a geomagnetic storm (G1 and up).

Bars on the chart are shaded by status: solid bars are observed values, lighter bars are estimated, and the faintest bars are predictions. The orange dashed line marks the G1 storm threshold.
